Who We Are
Dirt Locker® was created to solve a simple but persistent problem: erosion on sloped ground.
The idea began when Mark Trebilcock set out to fix an erosion problem on his own hillside. After watching conventional fixes fail and realizing that most solutions relied on concrete, heavy equipment, or constant upkeep, he designed and built a terracing system that physically locks soil in place, reduces erosion, and turns unstable slopes into usable planting space.
What started as a personal solution became a proven system through real-world use. Today, we are a small team focused on supporting and refining Mark’s original design. Every product we offer is based on practical application, durable materials, and long-term performance. If it does not hold up outdoors over time, it does not belong on our site.
Our goal is not to overcomplicate the landscape. It is to provide a reliable solution that works the first time and continues working for years.
Our Team
Behind Dirt Locker® is a small team dedicated to supporting customers before, during, and after installation. We focus on clear guidance, practical tools, and ongoing improvements that make working with slopes simpler and more reliable.
Mark, the founder of Dirt Locker®, grew up in Miami and developed an early fascination with plants, inspired by his mother’s passion for gardening. Mark started his first lawn and landscape company in his teens and worked for several years after high school until beginning his studies at the University of Central Florida, where he obtained a degree in Industrial Engineering.
Upon graduation, Mark worked in technology companies, but remained true to his roots. When building his first home, he preserved as many of the native plants as possible and implemented creative, ecologically beneficial solutions in his landscaping.
Mark, who enjoyed most any outdoor activity, moved to California for an opportunity in the Medical Device Industry. It was there that he started a family. His growing family and the unique challenges of the western environment—climate, altitude, clay soil, and sloped terrain—inspired the invention of Dirt Locker®. He discovered that many others were also struggling to grow plants on hillsides.
This need sparked a deep passion in Mark. While developing his solution, he earned an MBA and deepened his expertise in operations, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement. These skills fueled the development, patenting, and trademarking of Dirt Locker®—a system that is eco-friendly, economical, compatible with natural landscapes, and easy to install for hillside landscaping and erosion control.
Simplicity, ease of assembly, standardization, and environmental friendliness are the hallmarks of Dirt Locker®. Its core principles include providing value, solving erosion and irrigation problems, reducing waste, and encouraging plant life in an ecologically sustainable way.

Our Vision
We believe managing slopes should not require heavy construction, constant upkeep, or solutions that need to be redone every few years. Our vision is to make erosion control more practical by offering systems and tools that perform reliably in real-world conditions.
As outdoor spaces continue to be used more intentionally, we want to help people protect their soil, support healthy plant growth, and make productive use of sloped ground. The focus is on solving real problems without adding unnecessary complexity.
We take a long-term approach to improvement. That means refining our products, improving guidance and usability, and giving customers the confidence to address erosion correctly the first time.
